1. Make time to take care of yourself...exercise, eat right and do something you enjoy. 2. Remember you are in the school setting to be the advocate for the child. 3. Organize yourself so you will have more time to spend with your students. 4. Develop a good list of resources in your community and state. 5. Become involved in your professional organization. 6. Join a counselor's listserv. 7. Remember that you support the academic mission of the school. 8. Network with other mental health care workers. 9. Become a grant writer to increase funds for your school-counseling program. 10. Let technology help to make your school counseling job easier.
